New York State Bed & Breakfast of Distinction Award

May 2, 2007—The Washington Irving Inn, Hunter, recently won the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association’s (NYSH&TZ) 2007 Bed & Breakfast of Distinction Award. The winner was announced live at NYSH&TA’s 2007 Stars of the Industry Gala at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, on April 23 at 7:30.

 The award recognizes the B&B property that demonstrates architectural excellence and distinction; reflects significance or historical preservation; plays an integral role in promoting the local tourism economy.

The Stars of the Industry awards program honors employees, lodging properties and tourism-related businesses throughout the state who best represent the quality service and spirit of the tourism and hospitality industry.

HUNTER, NY—The Washington Irving Inn on Rt. 23A in Hunter will once again honor the birthdate of its namesake, Washington Irving, at its 2nd annual Washington Irving Birthday Celebration on Saturday, July 1. This year, the Inn will also celebrate the birthday of another American icon, naturalist John Burroughs. Ten percent of the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the non-profit Mountain Top Arboretum, which is located on Rte. 23C, Tannersville.
